It has been a while since I last updated and I have a lot to tell you about. I left off saying that I was about to leave for Ireland on a trip with everyone from the Central program. It was a really fun trip and I had a great time but lets start at the beginning.
4/13
We left Bangor around 1030am and made our way to the ferry in Holyhead. The ferry ride was about 2 hours and it didn't seem like it took too long. After we got off the ferry we took a bus to our hostel in Dublin. The place where we stayed had 12 people in one room. It was pretty crowded but that made it fun. After we put all of our stuff away we met Tecwyn in the lobby and left for a short walking tour of Dublin. He took us by the River Liffey and then into the Temple Bar region of Dublin and left us to walk around. I went with a small group of people and we got lost for a while but we eventually made it back to an area we recognized and ate dinner. After dinner we went back to the hostel and hung out the rest of the night.
4/14
Tuesday we woke up to a little rain and ate a full Irish breakfast (which tasted and looked just like a full English breakfast). It was good! Then we met the group in the lobby for a full walking tour of Dublin. We then left following Tecwyn to Trinity College. We then went inside the library at Trinity College and saw the Book of Kells. That was really cool. I liked reading about how they made the paper and the paint that was used to write on the pages. Next we walked to the Oscar Wilde memorial and that was pretty cool. Then we started walking again and we went to see where WB Yates used to live and we saw some of the famous doors of Dublin. Then we went to see the Molly Malone statue and we walked through the actual Temple Bar. After walking through Temple Bar we went and toured inside St. Patrick's Cathedral. That was the end of the walking tour.
Then we followed Tecwyn to the Guinness Factory for a tour. The tour was really cool and I had a lot of fun walking around the whole place. At the end we got a free drink. After our tour we made our way back to the hostel because we were all really tired. We grabbed some subway on our way and took it with us. We all took a break after we ate and went out later that night. We went to dinner at a Italian place and then we went to hear some Irish music and see some Irish dancing at the Arlington Pub but the people inside were really rude and we ended up leaving. After that we went back to the hostel and went to bed. We were all ready to leave Dublin and get to Galway as fast as possible.
4/15
We woke up this morning and did a little last minutes souvineer shopping and then we all got onto the bus and drive to Galway. We had to leave two of the girls behind becasue one of them lost her passport but luckily they joined us later that day with a new passport. When we finally arrived in Galway we went tot he hostel and put our bags away. The rooms were smaller this time adn there were only 5 in my room this time. Then we met Tecwyn in the lobby and went for a walking tour. He took us to the Cathedral and then down by the docks. He left us there to find out way back. We walked out onto the dock and then made our way back to the hostel. We made a stop at the grocery store first and bought stuff to make pasta for dinner. The pasta we made was really good and we had tons of leftovers for the next day. I had alot of fun that day.
Well everyone I will finish updating about my trip tomorrow. Have a great day.
